Day 26, April Poem A Day – 2021

For today’s prompt, take the phrase “(blank) World,” replace the blank with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem. This is me dreaming of when we return to some normalcy and a post pandemic life.

Lost world

I’m sure I’ll find
her again
Window seat
over cotton candy
clouds
So close you think
you can touch heaven

In a crowded cafe
Where lattes
and girlfriends
linger for hours

In the hush of
bated breath
between the
last notes of
the overture
and the curtain rising

Raising pints
ears slightly buzzing
to the backbeat
thunder of an
Encore
Breeze cooling
skin
At a summer night
concert

Wandering barefoot
in the sand
Lost in blinding
shades of
Aquamarine
Carefree
And I’ll say
Oh there you are
