Day 19 – April Poem A Day

Write an animal titled poem. This brought me to seeing the world for the first time through a child’s eyes.

Puppies and First words

The smallest buds
bloom against a
grey morn
Yesterday’s rain
nudging the
old oak
to sleepy growth
From where I sit
in the wash of
light from
the bay window
She balances on
tiptoe
Barely able to
peek out
into
natures story
unfolding in front
of her
From where I sit
in the corner
of a new April
From a distance a
door bursts open
A frenzied barking
ball of white fluff
races onto our
lawn caught
between slumber
and spring’s
first blush
Puppa
she says
