Poem A Day – Day 14

Sometimes it takes a little longer to get to a poem I’m happy with. Today’s prompt to write a poem inspired only by stimulus from where you’re sitting (or standing, if you write will standing). It took awhile but as I mulled it over through the day I realized the best writing time is when I can have a lazy morning over tea and just scribble down thoughts.

Morning comes
Etches its way along
the horizon in a
sun tail ribbon
peeking over treetops

From where I sit
I avoid the pull of
Chaos on screens
White noise of news
that will only make my heart
sad

I can find solace in
the slow study of
Tea leaves
A deep inhale
on rhythm and rhyme
The words scribbled
and erased
Poetry is a morning
Song
