Poem a Day – Day 6

I’m getting all caught up now. Day 6 features sounds. A few images came to mind:

There are sounds
Even after countless stars
Burst from twilight
Sliding into dusky mornings

After birthday candles glowing
From photos filed in boxes
In clouds

Sounds you will never forget
The soft slap of tiny feet
Echoing down the hallway
Pulling you from sleep
So that you stand now in awe-struck wonder
at where those steps have taken them

Waking at 5 a.m.
To grey morning light
Wondering what shook
me from the thick silence of slumber
A song
An answering trill
The call of spring
